One of the capital’s most wonderful buildings  The Guardian Become a Friend Friends of St George's was established in 2002 to maintain this important building after  its restoration. At first it was envisaged that the Friends would adopt the restoration of the  organ as their special project (as the organ was not included in the restoration plan); however,  with the growing scope of the restoration it became clear the organ needed to be removed and  was not of sufficient calibre to be stored and renovated.  As the restoration proceeded, the growing length of other projects resulted in a decision to put  the Friends of St George’s on hold and ask those who had joined to become 'Founder Friends'.  In the meantime the decision to remove the Victorian pews and replace them with movable  pew benches (designed by Luke Hughes of Drury Lane) required a fundraising campaign, and  those who sponsored a pew were made additional members of the Friends.  From time to time there have been a number of events to which the Friends have been  specifically invited and they have been kept abreast of events and activities in the church by  means of email and letter.     In 2012 we will be completely restructuring the Friends - setting it up as an organisation with  its own constitution and officers. Once this has been achieved we will re-launch the Friends  and move toward actively recruiting new members.  In the meantime, if you would like to be considered for the Friends please make contact with  the Parish Office (see the Contact page). You will be immediately placed on the contact  database for future events and activities, and when the Friends have become properly  constituted we will make contact with you.
